The Secret Life of Fat

Most people are unaware that fat is the largest endocrine (hormone producing) organ in the human body. It actually grows an ability, once body fat percentage goes beyond 25% for a women and 18% for a man, to mimic or mirror other hormone producing glands in the body (a process known as molecular mimicry).

For example, adipose tissue grows the ability to mimic glands like the thyroid and begin prodcuing thyroxine-like hormones. The same for estrogen, cortisol, insulin, and even inflammatory agents known as cytokines (normally only produced by the immune system). All of this abnormal activity is the fat’s effort to take over or hijack the body and it’s normal physiological processes.

Once fat begins prodcuing these chemicals, it’s almost as if it’s a form of biochemical warfare designed to create nothing but disease, sickness, inlfammation, rapid-aging, as well as continual weight gain. Fat is not your friend and no matter how hard you try or how many diets you embark upon, if this out of control endocrine enemy is not dealt with properly, you will be faced with a losing battle!

Fat is our most misunderstood body part, which is why it can be so tricky to lose weight. You can outsmart fat, but first you need to understand it. But most importatly, by understanding it, you can not only take it off, but keep it off forever!
